Last weekend single. Kind of weird to think about really. I tried to soak it in as much as possible.. not that Im not looking forward to being married.. because Im REALLY looking forward to it.. but just embracing these last days before life’s changed for-ev-er. I like what one surfer said on one of Jack Johnson’s surf movies A Broke Down Melody that “nothing ever stays the same. You can’t build fences around life. Its just an ongoing process and all you gotta do is keep paddling. Simple.” Change is good:)

So Saturday I had the privilege of riding with the Alvin Museum's legendary representatives, none other but Mr Darrell Richardson and Jerry Krampota in their 1930 Model A ford in the Frontier Day Parade! It was a blast! Jerry let me sit front seat as we drove the alvin loop around the high school. I got the wave DOWN! But soon realized in reality the kids waved in hopes of getting candy thrown at them. Unfortunately we had no ammo with us. The car was a hit though. The older crowd loved it because it brought back memories and the younger crowd loved it because it was so different. Dad layed on the original “huga” horn and I helped out with the train horn that was recently installed. I pulled a lever and Dad hit the gas and a train whistle sounded from the exhaust. We ended up winning a big fancy trophy for the best public service award.. fancy that!

OUr air Conditioner

I just liked this guy's float. Apparently anyone could enter

My new love!!! 1964 Ford Falcon Futura. Beautiful!

1963 Ford Falcon.. another beauty

Dad had a Falcon similar to this model when they lived in Deer Park. His was white.

Today was a nice relaxing Sunday with another day of perfect, humidity free weather. Today was also Matt's last day in the singles ward. He's pretty bummed about that:) Mom cooked my fav meal growing up. Round steak along with fresh corn, greens from our garden, and homemade rolls.

Yes Matt, I even take pictures of my food!! Thats all for now. Signing off

The weather

Since we are having an outdoor reception, we have been watching the weather like a hawk! (a little known fact about hawks is they are always looking up at the sky and reading weather patterns and this may or may not be a real fact. hawk reference just means we are watching it close and hawks can see good) So here's a picture of the weather for next weekend from weather.com.
This little storm looking thing started on Wednesday when we first saw it and has moved further and further down the week and the percent chance of rain keeps getting smaller and smaller for Saturday! Good news for us....bad news for SouthEast Texas, because they are in a pretty severe drought! We are not saying to not pray for rain....we are just saying that you should pray for Sunday rain! or Saturday late night rain!
I hope all of you are getting as excited as we are! I still have to take 4 finals and get some stuff ready for the apartment when we get back (and if any of you know somebody who wants to live in Glendale for two months let me know....I'll sell him a sweet housing contract I have!).
Happy trails!

Yarn Balls!

Here’s one of my many wedding projects.  Matt was able to help out with these bad boys while he was here and I have to say, they turned out to be such pretty little things.  Matt you make pretty little things!
                                                               source
I got the idea from this blog crafted-love.blogspot.com but made a few variations.  Heres a quick run down in case anyone’s in need of something messy to do.
Materials needed:
-White yarn
-Flour
-Elmers glue
-Plaster of paris
-12” balloons
-Newspaper
-Vasoline (This wasn't necessary tho, I did just fine without this)
-Spray paint
Step 1 !
Lay the newspaper down and prepare to get really messy.
Step 2 !
Blow those balloons UP!  You want a perfectly round shape outta them so dont blow them up all the way.  when you tie it, mold it around til it is round as round can be.  If you want to use the vasoline you can.  It helps the balloon to not stick to the yarn, but I had no problems not using it.
Step 3 !
Mix your mixture.  About 1/2C flour to 1/4C water.  The blog that I got this recipe from called for cornstarch instead of flour, but through experimenting I found that flour and plaster were sturdier, especially if you hang them outside in Texas' humidity.  My corn starch balls melted unlike my flour balls.  Also, add some plaster and glue and then probably some more water after that.  You’ll start to get the hang of the consistency and wont have to measure anymore.
Step 4 !
Dip your yarn into your goey mixture, and start wrapping!  This is so much easier with a second person, but definitely do-able with just yourself. Be prepared to get perty messy.  Luckily it'll clean up easily.

Step 5 !
Let balloons dry 24 hours.  When they are dry and stiff, pop the balloon and you are left with your masterpiece!
Step 6 !
Last, if you want them all white, spray paint them.  (With out the paint some might be a little off white)

These pretty little yarn balls will go in the trees along with my flag pendants in 7 1/2 days :)

So I found this boy at the airport late wednesday night and decided to give him a ride.  In return he got me a much needed new camera which I love!!!! What a sweet heart!

The next day I gave him another ride. I took him to the courthouse and bought this fancy piece of paper with our names on it.  I think he was ok with that.

Then further south we went to a little piece of heaven called Surfside, Texas.  Probably the best beach anyone could imagine up.

Matt tested his new bike out here as we rode around the houses on stilts.  We will live in one one day I think.

We then went for some fine dining where we had hot dogs and vanilla mountain dew.  mmmmm. YOu cant leave Surfside without it.

We rode back to Alvin where Mom, Juli and Ismari hosted a bridal shower for the soon to be bride (MEEE!!!) We had lots of friends come to celebrate and eat lots of yummy foods.

Friday we Rode out to Brazos Bend to play with the alligators.  This is a Texas wildlife park home to hundreds of alligators, birds, and turtles.  Ive never been where I didn’t see at least 20 gators.  This time we counted 31.  If you get their early enough you’ll be walking around the alligators that are sprawled out on the trails.

We only had 1 gator incidence where one almost went after Matt.  I just wanted a picture of the 2 of them! And mission accomplished

Matt requested a mandatory dinner at Joes Bar B Que for their Bar B Que baked potato.  It is oh so good!  We invited the fam to enjoy the feast with us.

Saturday we took a drive out to Klein Texas for a visit to the Houston Temple.  It was really peaceful and we plan on returning there soon.

On our way home we dropped Dad off with Steve and picked up Izzy and crew and onward we went back to Alvin for fajitas, Blue Bell, fun, and juuuust dance!

Sunday we celebrated Mothers Day by BBQ-ing. I love my Momsy for all the selfless service and love that comes so naturally from her.  She is so cute! <3

I had to end the day by taking boy back to the airport.  Luckily he promised to come back in 2 weeks.
